Stay at home dads' group in Grand Rapids
19 August 2009 on Examiner.com
Being a stay-at-home dad is tough sometimes, especially when you think you have run out of activities to keep you and your child entertained. There are only so many coloring books and board games in the world.
Well, for those of you who think that you have reached the end of possibility in child entertainment, here comes Grand Rapids Dads, an online group through Yahoo! that gets together and hits the town with their children.
Grand Rapids Dads has traveled "to parks, the zoo, the Frederick Meijer Gardens, the Grand Rapids Children's Museum, mall play areas, and many other places." They have even established a "Dad's Night Out" once a month, so you can unwind a bit before jumping back into the fun.
The group is free to join; all you have to do is show up:
There are no dues, fees or obligations. Show up as often as you like. Once a week, once a month, once a year, whatever works best for you. If you're new, just show up at our next playgroup and look for two or more adult males in general proximity, that's probably us.
This is not only a way for dads to get out and about with their children, but also a way for dads to connect with other dads around the city.
To join Grand Rapids Dads, visit their profile at Yahoo! Groups.
If you decide to join, be sure to ask as many questions as possible about typical admission fees and event prices so you have an idea of how often you can go out with the group.
Those of you who join, feel free to comment here or contact me with a brief review.
Have fun and laugh.
